someone sent me a link to the anoninsurrection youtube page.
i found eleven videos documenting an interview with the legal advisor for the former menlo park kingdom hall elders.
you can find them here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=plszmu_qv0dgtco2wl5bnjdx12ny2_cmoo .. i've also published the entire set of eleven along with my comments on ex-jw.com.
Just to update anyone who cares, I've taken down the aforementioned article at Ex-JW.com.
There were unverified rumors that somehow the Watchtower got to the original poster of the "Legal Advisor" videos and forced that person to remove all of the videos. They are indeed down and the YouTube account appears to be closed.
I'm not sure on what legal basis the Watchtower could have forced those privately filmed videos to be taken down (there are no obvious copyright infringements) unless they threatened a lawsuit for slander, but in any case they have disappeared.
For my own personal reasons I have taken down the complete article about Mr. Steele and the photos connected to him and those videos. I was not threatened or approached in any manner by the Watchtower Society or its agents, but chose to take this action for both my own journalistic integrity and due to a nearly complete lack of cooperation by those directly connected to the case (with one notable exception).
The real tragedy of this story has more to do with its effects on the confused members of both the Menlo Park congregation and those from Redwood City who also lost their Kingdom Hall and now must travel further to attend meetings.

i cannot believe the difference in my vision.
even with glasses my vision in the left eye was poor.
but i can now read a 12 font fairly clearly without the glasses.
I had the left eye done in 2006. My right eye got progressively worse over the next five years. I finally went in and had the right eye done in January 2012. It's exactly like Lady Lee describes. No pain, no discomfort. No more itch than what you might get during hay fever season, but not even that bad. I still have to wear bifocals, but my correction is for near sight. I can easily read a book without glasses and a computer screen is easy. But driving still requires glasses - but my doctor set the lense so that both eyes have the same prescription.
If you ever need it done, don't even think twice. It's actually far less painful than having your teeth cleaned and much less uncomfortable.

You made my day! What wonderful news for all of us to know another former JW has chosen freedom for themselves and their family. I assure you that this decision is one you will never regret.
Now you can truly worship God in the way you feel is best and not have to follow a bunch of ridiculous man made rules.
Welcome!!!

i would like to have your opinions on what i should do about a situation please.. i have recently discovered that a 'brother' in the congregation (which i no longer attend) is a child molester.
i've seen documentation from his psychiatrist dated a few years ago, stating that he doesn't feel that this person is likely to offend again.
the 'brother' has said to the elders at some point that he has it under control but cannot be 100% sure it won't happen again.
If you can somehow get this sister's address, send her an anonymous letter. Word it in a way that does not state in absolute terms (unless this man is on an official pedophiles list - Megan's Law) that this person is a pedophile, but that you have information that leads you to believe that her children may be in danger if she continues her relationship with this brother and allows him to move in with her and her children. Keep a low profile and watch what she does after she gets the letter. Does she pull closer to the man, or does she show signs that she might be having second thoughts. You may see a combination of both responses.
Also find a way to inform the police. A telephone call is often the best way. Yes, they may capture your phone number, but that is more for your protection than just an easy way to hunt you down. Police have been getting tips for decades using 800 toll free lines - and all show the calling number. I've never heard of a non-involved tipster being outed by calling one of those toll free numbers. It's not in the police department's interest to get a reputation for hunting down tipsters - soon they would have none. An anonymous letter to the police department would be a second choice.
If the man is on an official pedophile list, don't even think twice - call them. Tell them you know he is a registered offender and that he is having a relationship with a single woman with small children. Don't accuse him of anything, just tell the police that you feel someone in authority who has the law on their side (and therefore protected from slander suits) should make contact with this woman, make sure she knows that her children are in jeopardy, and that the man has restrictions. Don't mention how you know - only reveal that if they really press you.
If they do press you, then tell them that there are records maintained by the elders that will likely prove that they've known about this man but have failed to inform the lady or anyone else in the congregation of the potential threat that this man is to their children. Tell them that is standard procedure with elders because that is what the Watchtower organization orders them to do. That is why you are calling them because you doubt that any of the elders would follow the law and do it themselves no matter how critical the danger is for that woman and her children. With luck, if they can verify that the man is in fact a registered offender, then they can get a subpoena and confiscate those records. Who knows? There may be others in Hall that fall in that same category.
Some states have laws that protect anyone who reports potential child abuse. You might want to ask the police or child protective services if your state offers that protection. If this fellow has a criminal history (in prison or an extended stay in jail), then you should do everything to keep your identity unknown. Men who have been in prison for an extended time spend much of their time learning and devising ways to "get even" without getting caught. So do be careful.
Having been involved in law enforcement many years ago, I am somewhat familiar with the process of handling "tips." Sometimes the police will route you to a special desk that handles these kinds of calls and knows exactly how to handle them. Ask the police if they have such a "tip" desk. Be honest with whomever you speak to and let them know that you are fearful (whether you are or not) about what might happen if this man finds out who you are. Not only that, but that you will likely suffer repercussions from the elders at the Kingdom Hall because of their "protect pedophiles" and "punish anyone who acts without their permission" policies.
Above all - think first of the children. Imagine them as yours not hers. Then do what you know must be done.

a very special request for help - not money - just information!!!.
i normally would not ask this kind of a favor, but this really is important.. i am working with portland area investigators and journalists who are doing research on the whitney heichel /jonathan holt murder case and one other case involving other serious criminal activity.
they are particularly interested in anyone who might have attended kingdom halls in or around gresham and might know some of the members, former jws, or other related contacts in that area.. if you are from that area, or have connections there, please contact me via pm.

I'm not referring to the Heichel case in that regard. I'm talking about the Angela Montgomery child abuse/rape case. Reports suggest that she had an elder acquaintance that lived in another state and knew her there. While in the South, she moved between several states and may have been abusing her own kids in all of them at various times. She is facing trial in Tennessee later this year and the evidence against her appears to be overwhelming. She is, of course, innocent until proven guilty - but newspaper reports indicate that the police and district attorneys there have some very damning evidence.
That same elder she apparently knew in one of the southern states now lives in Gresham, Oregon and is reportedly an elder there. Reports indicate that he suggested that she move to that area and go to that Kingdom Hall. She apparently met someone in that area and married him and is living in his home or home of his relatives in the Gresham area. In spite of the fact that she is facing trial and possible prison terms that would keep her in jail for the rest of her life, the last report I have is that she is a member in good standing in a Gresham area congregation and may have been or is serving as a pioneer.
I would say that would indicate that " the Perp had priors in another state that elders might have known about..but kept a lid on it ..."
If they are willing to keep the reported crimes of Ms. Montgomery under wraps, what might the odds be that they may have also had prior knowledge of Mr. Holt's interest in pornography and possessed firearms and took no action against him? Yes, that may be a bit of a stretch, but that is why I have been trying to contact others in the area, especially JWs who attend meetings in that Kingdom Hall and may have know Holt personally - especially an elder who might realize that any coverup might expose the congregation to potential lawsuits or may be a member of the "conscious class" and is looking for some way to get the truth out while protecting his own identity.
Thanks for asking.

wow!.
the fantasy world of tolkien/jackson hit me in the face!
if you saw the film, please share your thoughts.. thanks.. coco.
My wife and I saw "The Hobbit" and found it enjoyable and entertaining. Got us out of the house and helped me clear my mind of all this JW fantasy stuff.
We saw it in 3-D and the effects are quite amazing. We have a 3-D 55" TV at home, so like "Avatar" we will probably see it several times over the next few years - just because it is 3-D.
If you accept it as fantasy in the same way you do a James Bond movie or "guy in loin cloth and a sword takes on a herd of T-rexes, kills them all, isn't scratched or out of breath, and is ready to take on the Transformers from outer space waiting for him around the next corner - then you will enjoy it.
I found in hard to keep all of the various good trolls, dwarfs, elves, bad trolls and assorted other disfigured monsters with unlimited resources straight in my head. You simply have to suspend your beliefs as far as what damage a human/dwarf body can take, how far down a cliff someone can fall without breaking a bone, and how a sword that is less than 3 feet long can decapitate a creature with a neck 10 feet thick. Don't ask questions or let science or reality creep into your movie enjoyment.
Oh, damn!!! Did I just give it all away? Damn me all to hell!!!!!
I guess I'm just getting old...
"Skyfall," on the other hand was totally believable.

most of us know that mad sweeney's cult free radio started in the united states has been a resounding success judging by listenship.
my question is,can mr cedars replicate this success with a cult-free radio europe?
any chances of success?
There are some relatively low cost microphone applications that will change your voice as you record. It's between the microphone and the output. Something like that would change your voice enough to disguise it for a Cult Free type podcast.

i was curious what is the youngest age any jw has been baptised.
i thought it was hypocritical for jws to say wait for marriage because its such a big deal but "why wait to get baptised".
i think my step sister was 11 years old.
Nancy J. Sage was baptized when she was 7 at the St. Louis assembly when J F Rutherford gave his children speech. She tells about it in her book, Going Undercover...
I was 9 or 10 when I was baptized and there were several kids much younger than me getting baptized at that same time.

after leaving the jehovah's witnesses, i started getting in to politics.
i naturally found myself going republican and voted a long those lines.
however, with my more pagan nature and being pretty much against christianity.
My experience with former JWs living in the USA is this:
Ex-JWs who do not take up a new religion and either remain nominal Christians, agnostics, or atheists, will tend to be Democrats, very moderate Republicans, or independents.
Ex-JWs who wrap themselves in conservative churches (Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, etc) or evangelical (Southern Baptists, Pentecostal, independent churches founded by self-appointed pastors, and so-called community churches that are almost always evangelical) tend to be Republicans - often of the Tea Party variety.
We have a fair smattering of both types on this discussion forum. It is relatively easy to identify who is who and which way they lean.
I also know a few former JWs who stick to their guns and remain totally neutral politically - figuring that all politicians (and their parties) are inherently corrupt and only looking out for their biggest contributors.
